Here is the scenario. Porter Robinson and Zedd. Poseidon. Hollywood. Long week is finally behind me. Smoke around me. Girls in high heels and skirts practically showing their "hoohoo". Life is good right? Not exactly.
Its a mad house out here. Dressed to the t, girls flirting with me but i have no ticket... damn! So i figure what a great time to take a moment to write my very small but growing audience. Here is the deal and question. What is underground music becoming besides the main stream underground? As a gentleman of class and grandeur that loves house and for many years, i have to make a note of the lack of class in the scene.
Dont misunderstand me, i am all about the underground and the fans. As an avid edc goer trust me when i say i am not looking for the suits and lapels. In fact, I cherish the ruggedness of it all. My problem actually lies with how main stream it has all gotten. Every man of substance has to have their vices, their mysterious quality, their escape. This was my escape, my reality check, my Mecca! And it has been taken over by whore mongers! I happen to have a love hate relationship with it all these days.
What happened to the underground? The unknown? The feeling of unity in knowing that the person next to you knew what was up and tables and sects didnt were foreign? Its all gone! Its rubbish! It no longer exists! Now there are drones walking about following the girls in the pretty skirt. The pretty skirt is following the party. And the party always follows the money. Again, i am a pure capitalist and my argument is not against the progressions of house and electro. Rather it is against the originality and the hippity hoppity of it all.
Why did hip hop die? Not because of capitalism. It was due to the audience. Its all about what sells. So people follow the flock. Sheep come and go but wolves and lions will always eat!
Originator and trend setters where are u? Where is my escape that I love so much? Where is the creativity? Where is the unknown yet to be known? Who is willing to challenge the status quo and the hordes? Where are my Tiestos of the early 2000s, my Kascades, and my young Pasquales passing out flyers on the streets? Please tell me and i will go. Tell me and i will have hope in our unique talents. Till then, I will come in with with table that just offered me a seat, continue to dance and stay classy... living a life of grandeur... waiting for you to show your ugly alluring and judged face!
